Charles' Short Bio
Charles attended the University of Hawaii (Bachelor's of Arts in Political Science, 1979) and Kellogg Graduate School of Management of Northwestern University (Master's of Management in Accounting and Marketing, 1981), before attending the William S. Richardson School of Law (J.D., 1984), where he was the Business Editor of the Law Review. Upon graduation, he worked for Case, Kay & Lynch (name has since changed) and Bays, Deaver, Hiatt, Kawachika & Lezak (name has since changed), before opening his own office in Pearlridge in 1987. Charles is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association. See his HSBA membership listing.
In 1989, he co-authored the original Hawaii DROA Wordbook with Joy Jeffus. He has also served on the Hawaii Association of Realtors ® Standard Forms Committee and taught a variety of real estate courses. He has an inactive real estate broker's license.
Karate Dojo
Charles has practiced martial arts since childhood, first in Misawa, Japan and later here in Hawaii. He teaches Kishaba Juku Shorin-Ryu and Yamani-Ryu Bojutsu at the Hikari Dojo and is the head of the Hawaii Karate Museum.
